I have always had a deep love for reading and exploring the power of language. Studying English Literature has shaped how I understand the world and I’m passionate about helping others develop their critical thinking, imagination, and confidence through English. I believe reading and analysing texts can challenge students emotionally and intellectually, helping them grow into thoughtful individuals with strong opinions and a deeper understanding of society.
I have recently completed my PGCE in Secondary English and am now awaiting the award of my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certificate. During my training year, I thoroughly enjoyed both of my teaching placements, which confirmed my passion for working with young people and my commitment to the profession. These placements allowed me to develop my teaching practice, refine my classroom management and deliver engaging, purposeful lessons to pupils aged 11 to 16.
Throughout my PGCE year, I have developed an effective and adaptable teaching approach that supports pupils in building both their confidence and their critical thinking skills. I have successfully created classroom environments where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas, exploring language and literature and engaging with complex texts. My lessons consistently encourage students to look beyond the surface of a text, developing their ability to interpret deeper meanings and form well-reasoned, independent responses. I have also demonstrated strong classroom management, ensuring that all students are supported to meet high expectations, regardless of ability. My teaching is centred on helping pupils grow both academically and personally, equipping them with the skills to succeed beyond the classroom.
