Tutoring Experience

I have volunteered at a local primary school for the past academic year in a year 4 class, teaching pupils in small groups and in larger groups. I have also had work experience in another primary school, with a reception class. I have two younger siblings who are in high school and sixth form who I regularly help/tutor. My first placement was with a year 6 class and I am currently teaching year 2 .

Tutoring Approach

I am flexible with teaching since I believe that when I tutor it should be in a way that is most beneficial for the student. We would spend the first meeting discussing how they prefer learning and what they struggle with and go from there. Usually I use worksheets and the students own work resources from school and I know that for some visual aids such as Powerpoints are very helpful.This can be discussed further with the parents/guardians of the pupil as well.
