Suzanne

I currently run my own freelance business as a web developer and media communications designer and adviser. I have been doing that for 11 years but worked in a number of media and marketing agencies for years before that. I love my job and I love running a business have graduated in business studies from Surrey University. In my day to day around business I live with my husband and two children aged 15 and 6 and I spend my time with them at home or on outings having good family time together. My other love is reaching out in to the community to help where help is needed and amongst other things I am a youth leader at our local church and teach all ages of children and speak on a number of subjects. I take the children away on camp each summer for a week's holiday which we all love. Very shortly I am off to Africa for 2 weeks to teach English as a foreign language in an orphanage in Dar Es Salaam. Very exciting and I can't wait!!

Tutoring Experience

Some teaching experience listed above but I am also going to be teaching very soon in a local primary school on a regular basis for a well known charity to help bring additional support and learning to young people there. As part of my business I frequently train adults on how to use web management software particular Wordpress.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is gentle and, I hope, very encouraging. My key objective to start with is to build confidence and to help my student understand what they can do and not what they can't do and to focus on that. We can then build from there. I would set targets for each student to fit their capabilities and I do expect commitment from a student to their learning. Sometimes targets don't happen though and so long as that is not down to lack of effort then I will understand that we may need to go at a slower pace but so long as we are always making progress to reach the level of capability of my student at each stage then I'm happy and I really celebrate each milestone.
