Outstanding head of maths at a secondary school with over a decade of experience in both primary and secondary education setting. Proven consistent track record of students exceeding their SATS, 11+ and GCSE exam grades.

As an examiner of official GCSE exam papers, I am aware of misconceptions and exam techniques to ensure tutees maximise their marks competently in the time frame given.

The feedback from students and parents repeatedly is "it just makes sense!" Being able to proactively change my teaching style to suit the learners' needs, improves students' success rate, self confidence and motivation to do more!

Tutoring Experience

Over a decade experience of working in education across the primary, secondary, and community education sector. I currently work as an outstanding head of maths, and am fully conversant with the primary national curriculum and AQA, Edexcel and OCR boards to deliver GCSE maths and AS maths in line with the correct and up to date specification. My year 11 students become so competent at maths, I extend their learning even further onto GCSE Further Maths (AQA and FSMQ!)

Moreover, by having supported children with special educational needs (autism, ADHD, dyscalculia and dyslexia), I can ensure maths learning is accessible for all.

As an official examiner, I have marked GCSE higher exam papers and therefore fully aware of common misconceptions to ensure my tutees do not make the same mistakes.

I have accumulated over 8000 hours of tutoring and therefore confident to create a bespoke sequential plan of maths sessions online including animated powerpoints and exam techniques and strategies to improve retention and recall.

Tutoring Approach

Assess current knowledge, identify and fill in gaps. All topics to be interleaved into the sessions over a period of time to ensure recall and retention. Prior knowledge to be consolidated first, before cumulatively building and extending knowledge to higher level. Once mastery on a topic is achieved, students will then complete exam questions.
