I have been teaching English/English Literature at GCSE and A Level for over twenty five years in a grammar school environment. I have also worked extensively as a senior examiner for one of the key exam boards and as a private tutor. Both Ofsted inspectors and internal school observers have consistently judged my teaching to be 'outstanding.'
I now run an Educational Consultancy, primarily tutoring; I also travel around the country delivering training/CPD for teachers as well as delivering revision and exam masterclasses for students.
I have a positive and friendly demeanour that allows me to connect well with young people of all key stages - helped by the fact that I love my job!
I offer all lessons online via Zoom or other platforms if preferred, so there are no geographical restrictions.

Tutoring Experience

25 years in a Grammar school.
15+ years as an examiner/senior examiner for both English Literature and Language.
4+ years as an Educational Consultant delivering GCSE and A Level Masterclasses in numerous schools/institutions around the country.
20+ years as a private tutor.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs and the requirements of the exam board. I use a holistic approach and believe that encouraging students to work through their ideas verbally, prior to starting the writing process is of the utmost importance.
