Hi! My name is Surina and I am currently studying MSc Speech and Language Therapy at City University of London. My background includes BSc (hons) Biomedical Science degree and a MSc Psychology degree. My course combines elements of biomedical science and psychology which is what my previous background degrees include. I am excited to tutor Biology as I enjoy reading relevant biomedical science books as part of my course, and in my spare time I enjoy reading fiction books. I have experience taking exams from when I sat my GCSE's, A-levels, my BSc (hons) and MSc degree. I am now studying again, so I will be actively revising and taking exams in the current education system. I have gone through the university process when applying for my previous degrees, through UCAS and directly through the university. My hobbies include hiking, travelling, sewing and photography. I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. I would like to structure my lessons so that we can look at the target objectives for each topic. We can also go through questions the student might be expected to answer in exams. We could then create a plan of different topics we are going to cover, so the student can know what to expect during our sessions and know what to revise. I would like to assist in either improving the students grades or building their confidence when they are answering/asking questions so that they feel comfortable being inquisitive. The learning techniques or activities I find useful for retaining new information is asking questions about the topic.
I have experience doing online 1:1 Tutoring. I have privately tutored Science at KS3 online, so I have plenty of prepared resources and engaging materials to support students within the online lesson space. l have worked in a school before and supported smaller groups of children and provided 1:1 catch-up support in classes.
