I am a fully qualified teacher having been awarded a PGCE from Kings College London. I have 7 years experience teaching English Literature and Language to both GCSE and A-Level students at a London-based secondary school and 9 years experience as a personal tutor.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching both English Literature and Language at Oaks Park High School for 7 years and my classes have consistently been awarded the highest average marks for both Literature and Language.

As a personal tutor, I have had over private 60 students who have made huge improvements from an average Level 5 to then achieving a Level 9 ( ~ grade C to A*). I have many references available.

I have been responsible for organising many of the schemes of work for both A-Level and GCSE units, all of which have been crafted to as a result of thorough analysis of exam board criteria.

Highly proficient in Edexcel, AQA and OCR exam specifications.

Tutoring Approach

It is my belief that the foundation of successful academic progress is the relationship that the tutor builds with their student. Education can be daunting and exam stress can be overwhelming and, as such, we often find that the individual at the heart of each student is lost in the whirlwind of all the chaos. My approach revolves around the relationship I build with my students: to understand who they are on a personal level allows us to appreciate what they need to help them grow.

I teach lessons using Google Classroom and all lessons and resources are tailor-made for the student. After initial conversations, I am able to better understand the style that best caters for the student's individual personality. I am incredibly supportive and my lessons are full of conversations that help encourage students to ask for help and that help them build confidence in themselves.

Though the relationship that I build with the students is most important, I also value the relationship that I build with parents so that there is clarity on all sides as to how the students are developing. I ensure that parents are provided with regular feedback and this can be done through phone call or email.
