She seems to have a genuine interest in helping her improve her maths and is willing to try different techniques to help her understand. She is also flexible with her time and willing to engage with the school teacher. I can see my daughters confidence improving in the subject. This tutor rang me at such an unsuitable time of 6am arranging the tuition time. The following day she rang me telling me she would not be able to tuition me due to guests arriving at her house which was understandable. However, she rang me after that with a 'flu' and told me that due to this 'flu' she would not be able to tuition me for a few weeks/ months whilst she recovers! And this was all after I informed her that I have an extremely important exam coming up. Thankfully I have found another tutor that doesn't seem to take a few months to recover from 'flus'.

I am sorry about the confusion and stress caused by me. My health is poor at the moment which is why temporarily I am unable to tutor. Once again my sincere apologies.

I'm sorry to say our first appointment with the above tutor was a disaster, although this was our first fixed appointment it was the second appointment as the first one Sumayya cancelled due to ill health (that was Sat 7th Nov) it was very clear when we met today she didn't look in good health and she did try to fulfil our appointment, but halfway in she complain she could not continue because she felt ill, because of this unfortunate situation and my son is desperate to find an adequate tutor still can you please transfer our booking with you to someone else who is listed with first tutor, I await your feedback to our dilemma and please let me know how we are to proceed thank you.

I felt I required the support of this tutor for an adult numeracy test, which was a component of my teacher training course. She initially appeared to be confident, friendly and enthusiastic. However, during my third session she told me that I was "just not mathy" and that I would not pass the test within three months. This seriously knocked my confidence and left me feeling deflated, despite the fact that I was studying a Masters level course. It also demonstrated a lack of patience. I had given her a list of the topics that would be tested and the practice materials I had been instructed to use. However, she had tried to cover areas in the sessions which were not on the test at all. It became apparent to me after my third and final session that this was to lengthen the time during which I would be reliant on her support.
I am pleased to say that I passed the test at my first attempt, after just a month of revision on my own, and am now a qualified teacher. I am glad that I was able to learn first hand the negative effects that a lack of patience can have on a learner's confidence, and will be mindful of this in my future career.

An unfair and disappointing comment. This mature student came to me in March this year for tuition in QTS numeracy (not Masters Level) leading to a primary school teaching qualification. After 2 or 3 weeks of tuition i was quite shocked as to the level of improvement i observed in the student with an extremely poor understanding of basic numeracy equivalent to Key Stage 1-2 in Maths, despite copious repetition. I tried my level best to develop her basic maths and sympathised with her worries of the prospects of passing. With respect to passing her test, i could not offer unrealistic hope or guarantees and i very specifically told the student that 'we will see how it goes'. I was not there to pass judgment. Eventually after the third or fourth week i decided that since we were still working on basic fractions etc until now and the student was not making any difference to herself, i suggested she take a bit of time off tuition and try and review these topics by practising homework tasks i set her. I made the effort and was committed to the students goal, however despite my persistence the student simply remained unfocused or over- complicated simple ideology. As far as tutoring topics were concerned, the student fully approved these without issues. For numeracy, mathematical problem solving skills stem from first principles and the fact that the student had very little appreciation of these posed difficulties. In the end i made the student aware of my concerns pertaining to her subject deficiencies and also expressed that i did not wish to continue charging her for going over the same topic that commenced in session 1. Finally i was completely patient with the students ability and the student was conscious of it. I could not be more encouraging or patient.
Nonetheless i am happy the student has now passed and wish her every success.

Very disappointed with her. She agreed to teach my son and the daughter of my friend at Bolton. But after 1st week, she missed the next week due to some family problems. Then the following week after teaching my son, she informed us that she could no longer come and teach at Bolton as it is not feasible for her.

She should not have accepted to teach my son and my friend's daughter as we were counting upon her to prepare our children for their GCSE exams.

Apologies to the family however the family accepted myself as a tutor when i clearly arranged with them that the tuition will be taking place at my address. I had no idea that it would be at their addresses. Out of sympathy and begging parents i took on the students despite genuine real inconvenience this caused myself. I was constantly being lied to and teaching in inhospitable conditions and stressed out by the family, which is why i could not continue.
