I am an English graduate who has always maintained my passion for reading and learning and want to instill this passion into my students. I worked for many years as an advisor on the National Curriculum and within the educational publishing sector. Having moved away from full-time work , I would now like to focus on helping GCSE English students fulfil their potential in English Language and Literature and am looking forward to doing more of what I love.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience of face to face tutoring but now feel ready to take this experience into the online arena as well. I have seen my students grades steadily rise and even the most reluctant have become engaged.

Tutoring Approach

I take an individualized approach to teaching based on the student's needs and interests. Whilst I recognize the need to challenge students I aim to tailor my sessions around the student's preferred learning style and pace. Lessons are a mixture of taught and practical exercises to help keep the student's attention. I am friendly calm and patient with a lively sense of humour and have connected well with the students. Confidence building and building belief in their own abilities lies at the heart of my approach. I also try to equip learners with study skills and organisational skills to help them get the best from their revision.
