Dear Mrs Adeniji,

In my thankfully brief dealings with you, you were rude, arrogant, aggressive, and ignorant.

Your churlish, pejorative, dishonest comments are demonstrably untrue.

At no time did I raise my voice. Unlike some people, I am not a shouter who talks over another person.

If anybody here raised their voice while somebody else was speaking, it wasn't me.

If anybody here was a bad communicator, it wasn't me.

It was YOU.

I work only with people who reciprocate my courtesy.

I don't work with people who shout at me late at night.

I asked you what exam board and what set texts your child was studying so that I could prepare appropriately, as I do with all parents and students.

For example, my message to you on 13th March at 22.45, following your (frankly, inappropriately late) call to me at 21.53:

“Dear Adenike,
Thank you for your call on Thursday evening.
Beforehand you told me that (your child) was doing Eduqas GCSE exams.
Then you sent me a Whatsapp message that said that he is doing Edexcel GCSE exams.
Which one is he doing? There is a difference you know… In our phone conversation on Thursday evening you told me that you wanted assistance with English Language GCSE exams.
The "Hi Emmanuel" message that you forwarded to me concerns the English Literature GCSE exam syllabus.
I can help but only if I know what I am supposed to be helping with.
English Language?
English Literature?
Eduqas GCSE exams?
Edexcel GCSE exams?

As with all my correspondence with you or any other parent or student, it is polite, professional, and clearly communicated.

You replied past midnight:

“What is the purpose of this text? (sic)
Firstly you bombarded me with questions in the afternoon today when you repeatedly sent me questioning texts.
I now took courage (sic) to ring you to know exactly what you needed from me. In a very rude disposition (sic), you spoke to me asking me about study texts in which prior to this period I have mentioned to you about my son's subject that you will be assisting with and that is English language. I messaged you Eduqas as that was the response from my son to your persistent text messages to seek information.
I had to call my son out of principle (sic) during college hours to get him seek that information from his teacher even though he was not having his lessons today. The teacher responded and l requested for your WhatsApp contact to forward the information. I forwarded the information and you started another round of aggravating set (sic) of questioning. You asked me rudely why l got in touch with you as you only teach English literature not English languages (sic) whereas on your profile on the site, you are advertised as an English language tutor. I removed myself from that conversation and the next thing you did was to send me another text at 22.45pm (sic) to cover up for your aggravating enquiries (sic). You mentioned to my child's hearing (sic) that l shouldn't have contacted your (sic) as you only tutor English literature not English languages (sic).
Thanks (sic)”

I told you that I taught only English Literature because it was clear by now that this was not a good fit. I did not wish to pursue this teaching role after your late-night obnoxiousness towards me.

(For the record, I teach both English Literature and English Language, though Literature is my speciality.)

I do not think that four polite text messages in seven hours, or four polite WhatsApp messages in a 43 minute correspondence, is “persistent text messages to seek information”, or “bombarded me with questions in the afternoon today when you repeatedly sent me questioning texts”, or “aggravating enquiries” (sic) – as opposed to me being phoned, shouted at, and messaged in a very objectionable manner between 10pm and midnight.

My referees and previous students will vouch for my professionalism and politeness.

Your feedback here is demonstrably dishonest, inaccurate, and misleading, as shown by the correspondence published above.

I feel sorry for your children, having to live with such an imbecile.

I urge my fellow tutors not to deal with this thoroughly dishonest, unpleasant and stupid person.
