I'm 28 years old with a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering from Cambridge University. I come from a working class family and was tutored Maths by my mother from a young age. In Cambridge I had to develop the skills to work through very challenging problems, so although I have always been good at Maths myself, I know the feeling of starting a problem feeling completely lost, but then learning how to work through it. In getting into Cambridge, I learned how to perform at a very high level, gaining multiple 100% scores in A-level Maths modules. So whether you are high or low level, I am sure I can help you reach the next level.
I have been teaching around the world since 2012, gaining thousands of hours of experience and earning a Cambridge Teaching Certificate. However due to language barriers, my subject has been English teaching. Nevertheless, I have become a successful private tutor and can transfer the skills I have on to Maths tutoring, which I am arguably more qualified to teach. In my spare time I have helped and tutored friends and acquaintances in Maths.
Maths is a confusing subject for many people, but it doesn't have to be. I do not believe that Maths is an intuitive skill but builds on previous knowledge to almost become intuitive. My approach is to find students' weaknesses and work on them to give them the confidence and knowledge to tackle every kind of Maths problem. I do not try to 'teach Maths' but to teach my students 'how to do Maths'. My classes are very relaxed and I am an enthusiastic but patient teacher.
