I have been teaching for 25 years and have been head of maths for 11 of those years. I have taught physics/science and ICT and sport teaching is also a real passion,. I coach rugby/hockey/cricket teams.
I was a housemaster of a boarding house for 15 years and now live in my new house with my wife (also a teacher) and my 2 children who are aged 17 and 14.
I love to teach and throughout my career have helped so many pupils with 1 to 1 teaching and really enjoy the success this brings them.
I joined my current school in 1997 and have taught Maths here for 25 years.
In this time I have also taught a huge number of sports and subjects, but Maths remains my passion.
I have always approached teaching from the view that confidence is key. In my maths lessons, I always hope children look forward to coming in to the room and feel relaxed - this way they will be able to ask questions, take risks and not worry about getting things wrong. For me, teaching Maths is all about helping young people gain an interest and develop their ability, no matter how easy or difficult they find it.
