Hi, my name is Stephen, I'm from Edinburgh in the UK, and I have a degree in Film and Animation and I am about to complete a second degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Having owned a marketing company for over 20 years. I retired in 2018 in order to spend more time with my family focus on teaching. While in business I focussed on Marketing and Communications and enjoy applying that experience in my English lessons. I am a very patient person who loves finding new ways to help others learn and master even the most difficult grammar and vocabulary. In my free time, I love spending time with my wife, our children, and our dog as well as playing sport and watching movies.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught over 9000 hours of English as a foreign language online and I hold a valid 120 hour TEFL certificate. I have helped dozens of students pass their Cambridge English Exams from A1 to C2.

Tutoring Approach

I am a very patient person who loves finding new ways to help others learn and master even the most difficult grammar and vocabulary. For adults, I offer a structured approach with bespoke personally written lessons to match interests and needs whether that is for business or leisure, as well as exam prep where we can work through reading, writing and listening exercises. For my School students, I love using a variety of age-appropriate teaching techniques from games, to reading and singing, for the younger students. I also use props and toys to cover key learning elements. For older teenagers, I love to converse about the latest trends in fashion, gaming, movies and music to practice new grammar and vocabulary and prepping for Cambridge exams where required. For all age groups, I produce custom lessons with vocabulary sheets and learning outcomes for each lesson.
