I graduated from Oxford University with a BA Hons/MA Oxon in Biochemistry. I have worked as an Assistant Professor of English at Korea University (원어민 교수, 고려대학교) in Seoul for 15 years. I have successfully coached Korean students to gain places at top UK private schools, including entry to Eton College as King’s Scholar, having been awarded a scholarship to Sevenoaks School myself at 13. I taught many nationalities as a professor, lecturer, teacher, and tutor in East Asia for over twenty years. I have recently returned to the UK for family reasons (my 2 daughters aged 7 and 10) and work mainly online.

I can particularly help East Asian students and am able to act as a cultural bridge for students aiming for, adapting to or progressing within the UK educational system at a high level. I have extensive experience teaching students who are non-native English speakers and a broad understanding of cultural adjustment. I can teach students online, whether in the UK or abroad. I am available in UK mornings/day times. My available times in UK correspond to Korea/Japan time 4-10pm (KST/JST)).

I help students to pursue educational goals through English as an online tutor and consultant. I have coached not only on subjects such as Science, Maths, English (including IELTS) and Geography, but also for UK private school entrance/scholarship exams and 11 plus exams. I also edit scientific documents written by non-native speakers at the university level.

Tutoring Approach

I am a passionate yet patient teacher. As well as building key skills and knowledge, I strongly believe that it is important to foster students' confidence and develop healthy relationships to study, enabling them to become lifelong proactive learners.

Generally, the first class is a chance for the student(s), parents, and I to get to know each other and to determine student needs and goals. Therefore, it is free.

I teach online using Zoom amongst other tools.
