I tutor maths, chemistry, physics, biology and general science at KS3 and GCSE (11–16). I tutor chemistry to A level (16–18).

I have extensive experience of working with different types of young people aged 6–18 in different capacities, which means I am quickly able to work out how best to communicate and connect with different students. I have a strong academic record, demonstrating and a strong grip of my subjects. I've worked with school teachers, so I understand the challenges they face, and therefore where students are likely to need extra input from a tutor.

I charge £35 per hour, with a 10% discount for online sessions. Your first session is half price.

I currently have availability on weekday evenings, and I will come to you.

I am DBS checked.

Tutoring Experience

As well as A-level and GCSE students, I’ve tutored undergraduate students in chemistry, developing their understanding of key concepts and study skills.

I’ve worked with young people aged 6 – 18 as a Scout leader in a voluntary capacity for 16 years. I lead groups of young people on hillwalking weekends, and I have undertaken Mountain Leader training.

I’ve organised and run outreach activities to inspire A level students with science.

I have a 1st class MSci honours degree in chemistry and a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Nottingham. I’ve authored 4 published research papers in top academic journals.

I’ve worked developing programmes of classroom resources to support school science teachers and promote good science teaching.

Tutoring Approach

If you have specific areas of the subject you'd like help with then I'll let you direct the sessions. Otherwise, I'll assess where you could most benefit from my input. I'll quickly what it is you need help with: knowledge, skills, confidence or a combination. in the first session, we'll make a plan for how to best use the time we have.
