Hello! My name is Sonia; I have been a private tutor for 15+ years, and also work as a teacher in a local school. Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of guiding students through the intricacies of English up to A-level and Mathematics up to GCSEs. I have a Masters in English literature, multi-lingual (English, Urdu and Punjabi) and am Enhanced DBS verified.
I thoroughly enjoy 1-to-1 tutoring, which is why I am looking to take a step back from working at the school and would like to dedicate my free time (day, evening and weekend available) to providing 1-to-1 teaching to my students. This enables me to tailor each lesson to the needs of the individual child and give my full attention to the areas that may need improvement.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout the years I have had a wonderful success rate with my students. All my A level students achieved their required grades for universities, and my secondary school students passed with As and above and English Language and English literature.

While working in the school, I taught a combination of Maths, English and Speech & Language therapy. I have also taught English and Maths privately alongside this for over 15 years catering to a variety of ages and skill ranges.

Tutoring Approach

Every child learns in their own unique way, and it is imperative to tailor your approach accordingly. I aim to identify the means by which your child would learn best, and build upon that. Proficiency in English and Maths not only improves day to day communication and interpersonal skills, but also encourages an analytical and problem solving attitude. While this is required for passing exams, these skills can be carried with you through all your future endeavours. My aim is not just to achieve a good grade, but to equip your child with the capabilities to be successful.
