Sofya is a lovely lady and excellent for beginners , people who may want to see if piano is for them. She has a gentle manner and is very calm It didn’t work for us ( my son) as we were looking for a more structured curriculum aiming for grade 4.
The practicing piano at Sofya’s home is an electric one rather than an acoustic one. This may be an important fact for some when looking for piano lessons
Hi Susana, thank you for your feedback. I am a little surprised by your comments as you came to me saying you wanted to initially stop focusing on exams for your son and to just play for fun and to improve techniques. The first 2 short lessons were to identify exactly what you wanted and for me to see where your son’s skills were at to then put in place specific structure going forwards. I was open to your thoughts and adaptable to any requirements which sadly we could not convert. For your information I have over 20 years experience teaching all levels of piano and music theory with my students achieving a high percentage of Merit and Distinction grades and have helped them achieve scholarships at private schools. I teach all abilities up to grade 8 and first lessons are always designed for me to observe where the child is at with their talent. I then structure my lessons to what is required whilst making sure the child is happy. I have a range of different piano instruments throughout my home but I always begin with new students on my Roland electric piano which is suitable for all styles of music classical/jazz/modern for which I have never had any complaints. I wish your son every success in his piano progress in the future.

Sofya is an excellent tutor with a wealth of knowledge and understanding on piano. I've been having lessons with Sofya for a couple of months now. I started as a complete beginner and Sofya found pieces to learn that were very appropriate for my experience, yet still challenging as to provide a great balance. She's been very flexible during lockdown also in providing online lessons over video call which have been invaluable in keeping my progression going. After just two brief yet very intensive rehearsals Sofya accompanied my 11 yo son during his solo violin performance on Springboard music festival in Brighton.She is fantastic accompanist, extremely reliable, professional and friendly.
