I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, two MScs - one in Health Psychology and one in Rheumatology and a PhD in Health and Social Care Research & Health Psychology. Before my studies I had been teaching German and English to children and adults at my own private language school in Greece for 11 years. I was born and raised in Germany, thus German is my native language (along with Greek). I have extensive experience in teaching and research and have attended a considerable number of seminars based on teaching and learning a foreign language, conferences and professional development courses. I was also a university lecturer teaching (Health) Psychology to undergraduate students as well as supervisor to MSc research students. During this time I also acquired a PG-Diploma in Higher Education Learning and Teaching. Currently, I am an Applied Health Researcher and a lecturer for healthcare professionals.

Tutoring Experience

12 years teaching experience in English and German as well as teaching Psychology and research methods including data analysis using SPSS to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supervising research projects. Considerable research experience.

Tutoring Approach

Learning a language requires covering all aspects of it, thus my approach to teaching a language includes grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and essay writing. During the lesson I prefer to speak with the student in the language I am teaching in order to familiarise and give him/her confidence in using the language. Explaining mistakes and providing practical examples are also very vital for learning a language successfully. Regarding psychology and research methods, I prefer a more pragmatic and hands-on approach where the student can understand the how and why in a simple and useful way.
