I am a very well qualified and experienced secondary and primary school teacher with a first class honours BA from UWE and a PGCE as well as a distinction Masters from Warwick University.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught English for 10 years in a large comprehensive school in South Gloucester covering all the age range 11-18 including A level. I then retrained in primary education and began to teach Junior Primary Key Stage 2 as well as continuing to teach at secondary level. Now I tutor both primary and secondary: English at all Key Stages (2 - 5) both primary and secondary, and Maths Key Stage 2 ( up to 11 years). I also prepare children for entrance examinations to secondary schools particularly verbal and non verbal reasoning tests. Some children in their first year of secondary school who need consolidation work on their last year of primary school also benefit from my support.

Tutoring Approach

I usually teach face to face in my home. However, in the currrent Corona virus pandemic I am only teaching on line through Zoom and by email. I find that it works very well and students are able to engage and thoroughly focus for one hour. I aim to encourage all pupils to reach their potential and to develop their self confidence. I tailor tutoring to individual pupil needs which I will explore in the first 30 min assessment lesson.
