I am a qualified, experienced Secondary Maths Teacher, currently in a role as a Director of Raising Standards at a King Edward’s school with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham.
In observations, I have received the highest grade of an "outstanding" teacher.
I have been tutoring for many years, focusing on mostly secondary age students but I have also supported adult learners towards GCSE qualifications. I have a broad range of experience turning around students who are below their target grade, as well as challenging high achieving students. I can cater for students at the foundation and higher tier with a history of positive outcomes over the years. I also have an enhanced DBS Check.
I have a lot of experience tutoring online, both one to one and to groups of students. I use an interactive laptop which allows me to write and annotate diagrams/working out so students can be as close to in person tuition as possible
I have successfully supported students through private tuition from grade 2 in September to a 6 in the summer.
All students have passed when completing all homework set and having a positive attitude.
In order to identify what topics need covering and to devise an action plan, the first session will comprise of an assessment/topic checklist.
Following this I will use a variety of skills based questions, differentiated tasks, problems solving questions and exam style questions. Assessments are used at the end of topics to evaluate learning that has taken place and feedback is given every session via email as well as homework.
