Music Lessons in Ealing

Hello, I’m Sherry
I have 10 years’ experience as a teacher, working with a wide range of learners including children and adults at all levels of ability. Whether you want to take up the violin out of interest, prepare for an exam such as ABRSM, or perhaps expand your musical repertoire, I can help you to achieve that. Also, if you and your friends have an ensemble, I am an experienced chamber music coach. Above all, what I aim to instill in my students is not only skill, but also the love and passion for music that has brought me to where I am now. I look forward to meeting you!

Tutoring Experience

I worked as principal second violin in the Alexander Chamber Orchestra for 4 years. I also worked in the Zhangjiagang Chinese Opera Company from 2013-2018, with whom I performed in HongKong, Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai.

Since I moved to London in 2018, I have worked with London Firebird Orchestra, London Film Orchestra, and RCM Symphony Orchestra. I also worked with a string quartet, a piano trio and a piano violin duo.

As a violin teacher, I have been giving violin lessons for 10 years. I am also the co-founder of the Nanjing Children Chamber Orchestra, holding regular summer and winter camps every year to provide chamber experience for youngsters.

Tutoring Approach

My approach for beginners is based on the Suzuki Violin Method, combined with various books like " Fiddle Time Joggers" and "Disney for Violin" to interest students. While I consider focusing on basic skills is essential for violin learning, keeping learners fully engaged is also important.

I like to encourage different forms of music collaboration in teaching, teacher-students, or students in groups playing together. I also encourage students to experiment with other instruments, to build flexibility and improve their musicianship.
