I am a qualified maths teacher with 4 years experience and have been tutoring privately for one year as I am now a full time mother. I am available after school and on weekends.
I am very passionate about teaching and believe every child has the right to the best possible education and should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. By helping a child reach this potential gives me the greatest pleasure.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught at an inner London school for over 4 years, students ranging from year 7 up to year 13. The abilities of these students varied greatly from low ability to the gifted and talented. Therefore I have a lot of experience in adapting my teaching based on the student's abilities. I am very familiar in the new GCSE as in my last post I was second in department, which means I had a lot of responsibility in researching and introducing the new GCSE to my collegues and students.
I have experience in tutoring privately secondary and primary school students. I have done this while teaching full time , and now while I am a full time mum.
I also did supply teaching for 18 months after having my second child, at both secondary and primary schools where schools frequently asked for me to come back.

Tutoring Approach

I believe teaching maths should be engaging and challenging for the students. I show the topics in real life context as this allows the students to relate to the subject more. Also, in the new GCSE there is a lot more functional skill maths content, therefore this approach is invaluable to the students.
When tutoring privately, I go over what the students have done in class and adapt and challenge where necessary. I use many exam style questions to help the students get familiar with the type of questions they will be required to answer. I provide verbal feedback to students as I feel like this is essential in progression and parents if they would like.
