Hi there, I’m Shannon! I am a kind and caring individual who is passionate about education and helping young people achieve their goals. I am currently living and teaching within east Ayrshire. I am available for tutoring at evenings, weekends and during the school holidays. Out with teaching I love going to the gym, cooking and spending time with my family.
I have been teaching for 3 years. I have experience teaching composite classes p5/6, p4/5, p6/7 as well as multi-composite p1-3. For the last year I have been a COVID recovery teacher. Here my role was to work with children who were struggling in their learning. Here I assessed to find gaps and put in place an appropriate scheme of learning to close this. I am confident in my ability to plan schemes of work in order to meet each individuals needs and support them to achieve their goals.
Before I plan work for my learners I like to get to know them so that I am able to get an in-depth understanding of their needs in order to tailor my planning to them. This would include discussions with them and their parents to set some goals and crate a shared idea of what we are working towards.
I ensure my lessons are tailored to your child’s pace of learning, using my professional judgement to adap and change the approaches I use with the learner in order to meet their individual needs. These incudes written and oral methods as well as active forms of learning.
