I am an experienced tutor in English and Maths with a strong academic background in international relations and politics. I have taught a variety of different boards and can adapt quickly to changes in exam specs. With years of teaching both core subjects and humanities, I bring a flexible, supportive approach tailored to each learner’s goals and confidence. I particularly enjoy helping students develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in all the subjects I teach.
I have over 30 years of teaching and tutoring experience at primary, secondary and university levels. I have a PGCE in secondary teaching and mainly focus on English although over the years I have also built up a lot of experience in tutoring Maths to GCSE. I also have a TEFL qualification and have 7 years experience of teaching Chinese and Iranian university students both English language and academic English skills in preparation for Masters and PhD degrees. More receny I have gained a PhD in Politics and International Relations and have been teaching on Masters courses.
I take a patient, flexible and student-centred approach to tutoring, adapting my methods to suit each learner’s needs and pace. I focus on building confidence as well as subject knowledge, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. My aim is always to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing independent thinking.
