Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a third year philosophy student at Edinburgh University. I started my degree as a joint honours in maths and philosophy, but have recently swapped to straight philosophy and am finding myself really missing the maths. I like to think of myself as a fun and passionate person who gains a lot of joy out of helping people learn.

Tutoring Experience

My first experience in any form of tutoring was during my GCSES when my next door neighbour was also doing her maths GCSE as an adult. I really enjoyed it, and have gone on to do a little bit more volunteering as a tutor with younger students in maths and physics. I also volunteered in a primary school running workshops on climate change and the refugee crisis.

I am aware that my experience is limited, and I have never worked as a paid tutor or online before. I am curious about a career in teaching and this is my way of exploring it. If money is an issue please don't hesitate to contact me and talk - I'm here for what I hope will be a mutual learning process.

Tutoring Approach

I love maths. And I really want you to love it too. There are so many different ways to solve problems and understand maths, and unfortunately school doesn't have the time to teach everyone the way that works best for them.

I want to approach the subject with passion and enthusiasm in the hope that at least a little bit rubs off. Maths can be super frustrating and confusing - but you can get through it. I want to help you learn the way you learn best - and if you don't know that yet then maybe we can figure out that a bit together too.
