I am an experienced secondary and primary English teacher who believes that all students should be supported to achieve their potential. I have a passion for teaching students with SEND needs and I am particularly experienced at helping neurodiverse students, for example those with ADHD/ ASD, dyslexia and stammers.
I taught in state schools in the UK for several years before moving to New Zealand. On our return, I taught on supply whilst running my own tutoring business for 9 years. I then became a medical education tutor for North Yorkshire County Council. Most recently, I set up and managed a centre for disadvantaged children in Middlesbrough. I am a GCSE English examiner for the 24/25 exam series.
I am a very patient and understanding person. I also use lots of creative ways to approach learning - I don't simply expect students to listen and write. We will complete sorting exercises, competitions and practical exercises in order to reinforce learning.
