Dear Parents, welcome to my page. I have been a primary school teacher for over 10 years and a Senior Leader for three, during which I worked as an Inclusion Lead and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
I believe that children learn best when they are allowed freedom of thought and creativity. If we mix that with some encouragement, guidance, and teaching that matches a child's pace and level, we truly nurture their self-esteem and growth.
My priority is to make learning an enjoyable experience, even for the most hesitant learners.
In addition to teaching children, I am able to offer parents special needs advice on a consultation basis.
A child that I supported, who was a very able and attended a private school, had difficulty concentrating in class and was therefore taking less interest in lessons. A few small tweaks with his work station, some movement breaks, and lessons that encompassed his interests, reignited his love of learning.
I also assist children with their transition to high school by building up their self-esteem and helping them develop their soft skills, such at making friends and becoming confident communicators.
I have been fortunate to have worked with a wide range of professionals at school, including speech therapists, behaviour specialists, autism advisory teams, physiotherapists, and child psychologists. Children do not need to have a special needs diagnosis to benefit from the tips and learning techniques that these professionals use - all children can benefit.
I have tutored for many years, and parents have commented that their children look forward to my lessons, and go on to develop a love for learning that they did not have before.
