Hi, my name is Sana. I am currently on a gap year having completed my A-levels last summer (2022). I have successfully secured a place at UCL a leading London university to study a Social Sciences BSc. I am passionate about learning and growing as a person therefore would love to help others out by passing on my knowledge and revision methods that helped me achieve my desired grades. I believe all students learn differently so tutoring sessions should be tailored to their needs and learning styles by incorporating and trying different revision methods and techniques that work for them.

I can tutor Maths, English and Science at primary level as well as various subjects at GCSE. I can also tutor Sociology and Business up to A-level.

Tutoring Experience

I have previous experience of tutoring a GCSE Business Studies during my time at Sixth Form in year 12 which I found very enjoyable and the student I taught found helpful. I also was involved in setting up and running a tutoring programme at my school during year 12. As part of this tutoring project I created a social sciences tailored tutoring guide which included tutoring session tips such as what could be done during the first session, how to incorporate revision and exam practise and using the student's subject specification as a guide to identify their strengths and weaknesses to then be able to work on these. This guide assisted new tutors as it explained how to structure sessions, teach content and develop exam skills with their tutees. I also have experience tutoring my younger sister in various subjects such as Biology and English.

I also have experience tutoring younger students as I currently work at a tuition centre where I tutor students mainly in KS1 and KS2 and some KS3 students. I believe I have a very adaptable and friendly approach which I can tailor to the student's age, ability and learning style. I am confident explaining topics, working through questions as well as marking and setting homework.

Tutoring Approach

I believe all students learn differently so tuition sessions should be tailored to their learning style and curriculum. I make sure to start off by identifying the student's strengths and weaknesses by either assessing their knowledge or going through their subject specification or school learning checklist. I then plan sessions accordingly with a mixture of teaching content and incorporating exam practice whilst keeping the lesson interactive and engaging.

I am able to tutor online and feel confident doing so. I have experience tutoring students online using platforms such as zoom which enables me to share my screen so I can present and talk through various topics and questions using PowerPoint presentations, worksheets and more. I aim to make online lessons as interactive as possible by engaging the student with various tasks such as starters and worksheets.
