Maths and English Tuition in Muswell Hill

I have over 20 years experience teaching in primary schools and continue to enjoy helping children meet their potential in their own individual way. I am a natural communicator, helping students access and enjoy their learning. I have tutored many primary school children - including for entrance exams. I have also taught children and adults English as a Foreign Language. I am passionate about Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and supporting children to overcome learning difficulties/barriers to learning. I have a wide knowledge of SEND and provide consultancy in this area, helping parents navigate the SEND world.

I have an enhanced DBS and Safeguarding training.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in a number of primary schools, mainly in the borough of Barnet - In both the state and independent sector. I have worked as a class teacher, SEND teacher (mainstream), SENDCO/Learning Support Co-ordinator and Inclusion Co-ordinator. In schools, I have taught children both with and without learning difficulties and barriers to learning, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, etc. I have also taught children with English as a Second Language. I have trained in a wide variety of areas of SEND, as well as in supporting children with Literacy and Maths.

I have tutored primary aged children in English and Maths at various levels, including for entrance exams for a number of schools and have also tutored secondary children with learning difficulties. I also supported my own children on their learning journeys - giving me a genuine insight into children's experiences in the classroom environment.

Tutoring Approach

I use warmth, humour and encouragement in my lessons. I make learning fun and interesting - teaching to the child's interests whenever possible. My aim is for the children I teach to become independent, happy and confident learners.
