Maths Tuition in York

I have a PhD in mathematics and a PGCE in secondary mathematics teaching. I have taught mathematics in various forms at a wide variety of levels since 2015, including at the undergraduate level (subfields listed below) and catchup support for struggling pupils. This has included teaching pupils with a variety of special needs.

Tutoring Experience

I have full QTS, and teaching experience since 2016, including all primary, secondary, GCSE, and A-level topics, as well as the following university modules (these are module names from the University of York, where they exist there - if you're a student at another university with differently named modules and you're not sure if these are comparable, please get in touch to discuss):
Foundations
Calculus & Analysis (all undergraduate modules)
Matrices, Vectors, and Linear Algebra (all undergraduate modules)
Ordinary differential equations.
Algebra, groups, rings, and fields (all undergraduate modules, postgraduate modules in category theory, group theory, homological algebra)
Metric spaces and topology (all undergraduate modules, postgraduate modules in algebraic topology)
Number theory (all undergraduate modules)
Differential geometry and manifolds (all undergraduate modules)
Geometric group theory
Functional analysis (all undergraduate modules)
Lie theory (all undergraduate modules)

Tutoring Approach

I adjust my teaching style to the needs of the student, but in general am supportive, assisting with areas of difficulty while encouraging the student to work through problems and understand the reasons that their methods work, aiming to build fluency and understanding.
