Hello, I am Sam and I’m a fully qualified teacher of History, Modern Studies and Drama. I am currently working within a Secondary School in South Lanarkshire, and I have experience of teaching pupils at all levels. As a current teacher, I have up-to-date experience of SQA standards for exams and assignments and I have a range of teaching resources that I share with the pupils I tutor. I have experience of tutoring pupils of all abilities, whether to help them study and prepare for exams, with assignment support, or boosting results. I am passionate about supporting each young person achieve their best.

Tutoring Experience

With several years of experience tutoring secondary school pupils, I am committed to helping students reach their full academic potential. As a fully qualified teacher, I currently teach History, Modern Studies and Drama, delivering lessons and one-to-one support across National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher levels. My lessons are tailored to suit a diverse range of learning styles and abilities, ensuring that each pupil receives the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.
I am passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. I have worked extensively with pupils who require additional support, adapting resources and teaching approaches to meet their individual needs. Whether preparing for exams, building confidence, or looking to achieve a higher grade, I am dedicated to helping every student thrive.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is centred around actively listening to the needs and concerns of the person I am supporting. I fully understand that pupils’ needs vary, therefore, I am always flexible in my approach. We will work together to establish gaps in knowledge and areas for focus, as well as using revision and study techniques that work best for your child. Throughout our sessions, I will share additional teaching and revision resources that I use with my own pupils and that meet current SQA standards. These resources can also be used outwith our sessions to support continued and independent revision. Within our sessions, I will offer support with supplementing gaps in knowledge, support with assignments, marking past-papers, revision techniques, and last-minute support for prelims and exams.
