Hello!

My name is Sam, I am a 25 year old Clinical Scientist, Cambridge graduate and current PhD student at UCL. I have spent the last 3 years performing clinical training in the NHS, and am now embarking on a PhD in Experimental Medicine. With my wealth of academic and practical experience, I now want to help others on their journey through 1 to 1 tutoring!

Tutoring Experience

I am commencing a second masters (of research) at UCL as part of my PhD programme. I have recently completed a Masters in Clinical Science, achieving a distinction (77%) alongside a 3 year training programme in the NHS to become a Clinical Scientist. Prior, I studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, achieving a 2.i (68%), and recieving scholarships for my academic results.

I have 5A*s at A-Level in Maths, Physics, Biology, Geography and General Studies (and an A in an Extended Project Qualification).

I have given informal teaching to peers during my studies, as well as giving talks and presentations to primary and secondary school students. This includes leading a workshop session for 15 and 16 year old students on the use of ultrasound physics to study blood vessels (my role in hospital!)

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style is laidback and casual. I can offer both teaching style sessions where I can go through topics, or question and answer feedback sessions based on the tutee's needs.

Having spent several years training in hospital, I have developed communicative approaches for a range of abilities to help with understanding difficult topics, so I can make things as simple (or complex) as needed!
