Online Maths Tuition

Greetings!

My name is Salman Khalid and I can not wait to begin tutoring everybody who is interested!

In regards to my ability and motivation to tutor, my sole purpose is to help students become inspired and have a love for learning through innovative ways I experienced myself. I believe the key to being a successful tutor lies in one's ability to relate to his students and, with my background and recent experience of various exams, I think I can do just that. Having come from a poverty struck background and crime struck demographic, having an equal opportunity to learning experience for all is something that is very important to me; and so I intend to do just that, or present my share, by helping students through these tutoring lessons.

If you have any questions about me, my background, or my ways of teaching please feel free to contact me so we can discuss, to whatever length required, the best way to move forward with your, or your child's, academia.

I hope this length of text is helpful and gives you a taste of my character. I really hope you are able to become inspired, just as I was, and motivated to work alongside me towards your childs success.

Thank you.

Tutoring Experience

I have vast experience with working with children, ranging from leading secondary schools such as Cathedral to some of the toughest schools in West Yorkshire such as Hanson.

I currently work for an established organisation as a lecturer, helping young sports people pass their English and Maths GCSE and Functional Skills.

I have been a tutor for over a decade and have relevant experience and qualifications to back this up now too. DBS available on the Update Service

Tutoring Approach

Working for my current company means I empower my students learning through interactive strategies and stimulating through sports principles. If your child loves a particular sport I can embed this into my lessons to stimulate their learning.

Generally, all my lessons follow a similar structure. Below I will list the activities that make up most of my lessons.

1)
Upto 15 minutes spent on Starter Questions
One of the biggest problems for students is that they forget how to tackle certain questions, so by doing a starter it helps with their memory recall and when showing them how to do it, it helps embed their learning into their long term memory.

2)
5 mins to introduce the learning objectives and topic we will be covering in that lesson. Sharing the real life context and where the particular topic fits into real life. Make a note of and define any new keywords that we might come across.

3)
5 minutes where the student can create a steps to success, so specifically annotating meaning or expressions in their own words, create a formula on how to answer questions of that topic so that they can refer back to this formula if they ever get stuck.

4)
15 minutes to introduce the reasoning behind why we're covering the topic and where it is necessary in Mathematics; build on the understanding of the topic by doing some examples that I call I DO, first by myself and the then we work through examples together WE DO, and finally independently practise YOU DO.

5)
10 minutes of what I call the CHALLENGE ZONE where the student will work independently answering exam questions based on the learning of the lesson.

6)
5 minutes where we will work through and critique any mistakes made within the exam questions.

7)
5 minutes to reflect on the day's learning and discuss any things the student would like for the next lesson.
