Hi, my name is Ruth, I live in East London (E3) and have been a maths tutor for over 4 years. I adored maths all the way through school and, although I decided to study languages at university, I kept my passion for maths alive by tutoring it online alongside my studies.

I come from a family of teachers (parents, sister, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles...), and I have definitely inherited the passion for education. The satisfaction of seeing pupils improve through a combination of their own efforts and your support is unparalleled!

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring KS3 and GCSE maths for over 4 years, alongside my university studies.
I have tutored a wide range of pupils: those who completely lacked confidence in the subject, as well as those who were already excelling but needed that extra push to achieve the higher grades.

I have tutored pupils at KS3 level, as well as those working towards GCSE, IGCSE and Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications.

Tutoring Approach

It goes without saying that I tailor my approach to the individual pupil. There is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to tutoring maths successfully. However, in general I am a positive tutor who motivates pupils through fun and engaging lessons.

With all my pupils I make it a priority to ascertain what the gaps are in their knowledge as quickly as possible using a variety of exam questions. I will make a spreadsheet of the required subject areas for the particular pupil's qualification/exam specification they are working towards so I can ensure all areas are covered, and how the pupil is progressing in each area. This allows me to design lessons to best support the pupil's needs.
