I am a qualified Early Years Teacher, with a BA Honours in Integrated Childhood Studies and Early Years Professional Status (or Early Years Teacher Status), with 20 years experience in a variety of settings. I hold a Teaching Certificate in Post Compulsory Education, and recently gained a Diploma in Dyslexia with Distinction.
I started studying and practice in Childcare whilst my children were very young and took courses on dyslexia, run by a Educational Psychologist, and a course on working with children with autistic spectrum disorders, with Birmingham University. I also studied for a teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education (Adults), and taught childcare students at college.
I have many years experience in teaching preschool children and children with specific learning difficulties, e.g. Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, Asperger's syndrome, and others. My previous work roles have included: Childminder, Mother and Toddler Groups, Parenting Groups, Pre-school Leader and SENCO, Nursery and Reception Teacher (Private School), and young adults and older adults entering into childcare roles, Family Support Worker, voluntary work with church leaders and children in Kenya and Uganda, and more recently, working with Teaching Agencies in Nursery Schools. I have worked as a tutor for at least 8 years.
I work online and face-to-face in my local area. I use a multi-sensory and structured approach to teaching, including games and activities to enhance learning.
