Ruth

I am a qualified Early Years Teacher, with a BA Honours in Integrated Childhood Studies and Early Years Professional Status (or Early Years Teacher Status), with 20 years experience in a variety of settings. Ruth also holds a Teaching Certificate in Post Compulsory Education, and recently gained a Diploma in Dyslexia with Distinction.

I started studying and practice in Childcare whilst her children were very young and took courses on dyslexia, run by a Educational Psychologist, and a course on working with children with autistic spectrum disorders, with Birmingham University. Ruth also studied for a teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education (Adults), and taught childcare students at college.

Tutoring Experience

I have many years experience in teaching pre-school children and children with specific learning difficulties, e.g. Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, Asperger's syndrome, and others. Ruth's previous work roles have included: Childminder, Mother and Toddler Groups, Parenting Groups, Pre-school Leader and SENCO, Nursery and Reception Teacher (Private School), and young adults and older adults entering into childcare roles, Family Support Worker, voluntary work with church leaders and children in Kenya and Uganda, and more recently, working with Teaching Agencies in Nursery Schools. I have worked as a tutor for at least 8 years.

Tutoring Approach

I work online, provided a hybrid of teaching methods, including teaching videos and teaching materials for students to practice. The videos demonstrate exactly what needs to be done, so your child always know what they need to do, and are able to practice the skills they are learning. I also provide online tutoring group sessions, and some one-to-one sessions, based on your child's needs.
