Throughout my life I have managed to quickly build rapport with people. I have done this through having a good sense of humour, being inquisitive and above all being able to listen and engage with people.
I have a large variety of interests including music (I play guitar and flute), film, literature and sport. These interests have further enabled my ability to engage with people and form positive relationships.
I have over twenty years experience working with young people in various roles. Including as a Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant and Teacher. I have also worked in a wide range of settings, including mainstream and SEN provisions with young people who have a variety of needs and intelligences.
Because of this variety of experiences I am able to deliver targeted one to one work which has meaning and relevance over a wide range of subjects including History, Geography and English.
My approach to tutoring is very much child led. After an initial session in which I find out what the young person I am tutoring aims to get out of the session, what their motivations and interest are and their level of ability and how they best learn I tailor the sessions to the need of the specific child, . Above all I want both pupil and tutor to enjoy their sessions as I feel this is when learning and progress occurs.
