Baydon St Nicholas, Wiltshire — Teaching Assistant: Helping to develop the skills of 7-8 year old children in essential areas such as reading, writing as well as simple mathematics. Awarded Warlow Harry Community Service prize by Marlborough College for the work in this school.
Clifton College, Bristol — Teaching Assistant: Helping to develop the skills of 9-13 year old children in Chess and Football as part of my Duke of Edinburgh volunteering campaign.
My teaching approach is very mental health focused. I ensure the student is always working at a pace that covers the correct amount of content, but never too much to the point that it is overwhelming. Knowing the significance that good mental health has in relation to ease of learning and digesting new material (both from experience learning and teaching), I make sure to provide a friendly environment in which students are able to take a break if needed, as well as discuss exactly what it is about the content that is challenging.
