Tutoring Experience

I graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge with a degree in Theological and Religious Studies. I have worked as a teacher and Head of Department for Religious Studies and Philosophy in some of the highest-performing UK schools. I have been a GCSE and A-level examiner and team leader for nearly two decades.
I have tutored in-person and online since 2013. I am now a full time tutor. As a tutor I have taught English A-level, GCSE and IGCSE, History GCSE and IGCSE, Religious Studies GCSE and A-level, Philosophy IB and Philosophy A-level, across a wide range of units and texts.

Tutoring Approach

I am helpful and supportive and encourage students to aim for the highest possible grades. At the same time, I identify as many mistakes and weaknesses as possible so that issues are rectified well before the examination. While encouraging students to work independently, I can provide and recommend good resources and summarise difficult information to help students engage with and use more complex ideas and thinkers. I give detailed feedback, using examination mark schemes to guide students to a higher level. Essay-writing and exam technique are crucial to success and I focus on this throughout my work with my students.
