Ph.D from University College London. I also have a degree in physics. I work in IT and have extensive maths tuition experience before taking a break to raise a family. Now returning to tutoring at home and online. First lesson free.
I tutored maths to many children when younger, taking a break when I became a father as life became just too busy. I love tutoring however and now my child is older I have the time and energy to resume tutoring although my child would say I teach them so haven't paused tutoring!
My relatively low fees reflect the fact I'm returning to tutoring after a break while I build up references.
I don't have a current CRB but I'm in the process of sorting one out.
Every child has different needs and learns differently. Some need help building basic skills, others are very good but just need a little more practise. Most children are somewhere in the middle. With constant feedback we cover immediate problems with current school learning and those gaps in basic skills.
The first thing is to learn about the child, understand what they can do and where they need help. It's not always the skills they are learning today that are causing the problem. Maths is built on many skills taught over several years at school and sometimes it is a poor understanding of these earlier skills.
Over time I build up those earlier skills as required while supporting them in their current studies.
