Roger

Hi. My name is Roger. I live in Chester and am married. I have a son and two daughters. I am fascinated by other cultures, their languages, traditions, food and ways of life. These are some of the reasons I love my job as I get to know people from all.over the world and am.constantly learning myself.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a teacher of English as a Foreign Language for 25 years, working at a local private language school, the local F.E. college and currently at Chester University. I have extensive experience of private one to one tutoring both online and face to face at all levels from beginner to advanced, undergraduate and postgraduate. I have taught all ages from primary upwards.
Over my teaching career I have worked with blearners from all over the world so am very familiar with the types of problems multi-national students have when learning English, depending on their first language.
My expertise is in:
- tuition and support for youngsters with their schoolwork and exam preparation
- preparation for Cambridge main suite exams (First/Advanced/Proficiency)
- preparation for ESOL exams (Pre-Entry to Level 2)
- training for Trinity College London exams
- general English Language tuition
- EAP support at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- proofreading of postgraduate and undergraduate dissertations (charged per number of words not by the hour).
I am also an experienced teacher trainer.

My focus is very much on addressing each individual's specific requirements by listening to their needs and closely.monitoring their development. My sound knowledge of methodology, available teaching resources and my ability to create tailor made teaching materials mean I can deliver a professional and effective learning experience to enable my students to achieve their goals.
