Private Maths and Physics Tuition in Chelsea

Senior Engineering lecturer with Oxford University PhD in jet/rocket propulsion

I'm an experienced and qualified professional educator with a passion for teaching engineering.

Tutoring Experience

My professional teaching background includes 15 years as an engineering lecturer at Oxford University, and 5 years as a senior engineering teaching fellow at a top-ranked London University. Alongside this I have also been teaching privately for 20 years during which time I have taught undergraduate and post-graduate students from Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College London, University College London, Boston University, Bristol, Leeds, Surrey, Loughborough, Southampton, Nottingham, Warwick, Queen Mary, Kingston, and many others, in all branches of Engineering.

I hold a doctorate (D.Phil) in Engineering Science from Oxford University, an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and a BSc in Physics, both from Imperial College London, as well as professional teaching qualifications in University Learning and Teaching.

I most enjoy teaching engineering (including the underlying mathematics and physics) at university level. I am happy to teach virtually all engineering topics at undergraduate and post-graduate level. I'm also happy to help students with any sort of engineering project work, including masters and PhD projects and particularly in cases where their official supervisor is hard to reach.

I'm also happy to meet with secondary-school students who might be interested in engineering to discuss their interests and how best to pursue them and, although I don't offer interview coaching I'm happy to give advice on applying to study engineering at university.

I generally teach in person in central London and online using Microsoft Teams and my schedule is flexible. I am also willing to travel for intensive teaching periods subject to client requirements.

Outside of engineering I enjoy freeride skiing, downhill mountain biking and hockey (ice and inline).
