Robert

I have been tutoring through word of mouth but have recently recognized the growing demand for one-on-one maths tutoring in Moray. Currently, I work as a teacher in Moray and have a strong background in education and practical instruction. My experience includes serving as an instructor in the military, where I taught both theoretical and practical concepts in an engineering environment.

Beyond teaching, I bring real-world applications to my tutoring, drawing from my diverse experience across industries such as Oil & Gas, Offshore Survey, Aviation, Accountancy, and Software. Having worked both at home and abroad, I understand how to connect mathematical concepts to practical situations, making learning more relevant and engaging.

I take great satisfaction in helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience teaching Maths and Physics across all levels in both the private and state sectors. Having taught in most secondary schools in Moray, including Gordonstoun, I am well-versed in different teaching environments and curricula. While I am familiar with the Edexcel curriculum, I primarily focus on the Scottish system, where demand for tutoring is highest.

In my current role, I work closely with pupils who have Additional Support Needs. This has deepened my understanding of diverse learning styles and equipped me with a range of strategies to help students overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. My goal is to make maths accessible, engaging, and relevant for every learner, regardless of their starting point.

Tutoring Approach

I take a flexible, student-centered approach to tutoring, tailoring each session to individual needs—whether it’s working through homework, tackling past paper questions, or building a deeper understanding of key concepts. No two students learn the same way, so I adapt my teaching methods to suit different learning styles and goals.

Since 2020, online tutoring has been my primary method of delivery, allowing me to provide high-quality, interactive lessons regardless of location. I use Bramble, a professional online tutoring platform that requires no additional software and works seamlessly across all devices. This enables students to access resources, revisit recorded sessions, and engage in effective, structured learning from anywhere.

While online tutoring is my main focus, I also offer in-person sessions, particularly around exam time and during mid-term breaks. To help students experience the benefits of online learning. To help students experience the benefits of online learning, I offer the first online lesson at half price
