Having completed 11 GCSES, achieving five 9s and no grade lower than a 7, I initially studied a year of the International Baccalaureate before deciding instead to do A-Levels in order to focus my studies more. I am now studying economics, maths and psychology (maths and economics being two subjects in which I got a grade 9 in at GCSE level).

Tutoring Experience

When studying the International Baccalaureate, I worked as an Economics Prefect with students on a one-to-one basis every week. We went over content they were struggling with and then practiced exam-style questions and techniques. Furthermore, in my role as a German Prefect, I helped younger students during their GCSEs in both speaking and writing. These students found this very beneficial and my support helped boost their confidence, particularly with the speaking aspect.

Tutoring Approach

I always aim to tailor my tutoring based on the individual strengths and weaknesses of my students. Therefore when I am working with a new student, I try to cover a general overview of the subject in our first few lessons and make notes of areas, whether content or exam technique, that the student seems less confident in. When I have gathered a few topics, I will search for resources that will specifically help the student and begin to tailor the lessons for their needs. I also always make sure to encourage them and tell them when they have completed a task particularly well or quickly to help their confidence.
