I have always wanted to be a teacher and since studying at GCSE, I knew I wanted to teach English. I had an amazing English teacher myself and wanted to inspire others as she inspired me. I would love the opportunity to work with a student on a one-to-one basis as I feel a real difference can be made that way. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching English for 8 years in two very different secondary schools. Both my A Level and GCSE classes, as a whole, have always met or exceeded their targets, but most importantly I have been able to inspire students to enjoy a subject that they previously viewed as a chore.
I am currently head of A level English which I love. I have held this position for 3 years and fully intend to keep it for a long time. It allows me to fulfill my passion for both literature and language every day.
I have tutored in the past but put this on pause while my daughter was very young and am now ready to take it up again.

Tutoring Approach

I feel the most progress can be made when there is a real investment from both sides. I also believe that this is done most effectively when you feel comfortable and at ease.
I intend to ensure you understand the challenges of your coming exams, but also help you appreciate just how important and influential language is and how it can be used in such powerful ways.
