Maths and English Tuition in Bath

Please note I am not currently available to tutor, but I will be available from October.

I am a highly qualified professional with twelve years’ experience educating KS1 and KS2 children. I have 3 postgraduate qualifications in education, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy. I completed this qualification and first began tutoring when I had a dyslexic child in my class as a teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed helping this child recover her confidence and feel like she could be successful academically. Now I would like to help other children by increasing their confidence and helping them to achieve their full potential, whether this is with Reading, Writing, Maths or Science.

Tutoring Experience

  • Teaching across KS1 and KS2 for six years in inner-London schools with children with a range of needs (87% of children in my classes achieved expected attainment levels and over 20% exceeded these)
  • Tutoring children who are below the expected level for their age and those who are above the expected level for their age
  • Developing an education resources business that is used by thousands of primary teachers, with my resources receiving thousands of positive reviews on independent websites, e.g. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Save-Teachers-Sundays
  • Developed a dyslexic-friendly handwriting and spelling scheme that is used by hundreds of schools
  • Training colleagues about Dyslexia, Spelling and Reading
  • Mentoring trainee teachers

Tutoring Approach

Initially I carry out an accurate assessment of a child's current level of attainment and find any gaps in knowledge or understanding that need to be addressed. I then use this information to plan personalised sessions to ensure that these gaps are filled and that children are always learning and making progress. I have a huge range of resources that I have developed myself and that have been tried and tested in classrooms available to me. I also make use of technology, such as videos and games, especially for work that children can do to consolidate their learning between sessions with me.
