Ranjani

Maths and English Tuition in Thames Ditton

I am a Maths teacher at a reputed independent school. In addition to being a Maths teacher, I also hold a specialist Dyslexia - Level 5 qualification. Having taught all of the year groups in KS2, I have an in depth understanding of the national curriculum. I partake in regular career development programs in order to stay relevant as well as knowledgeable about the recent developments in this sector.
I believe that to be a successful teacher, I should model professionalism, be organised, be punctual while at the same time be warm and welcoming. My lessons reflect all of the above as I endeavour to establish a fun, relaxed yet firm relationship with my students.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience of teaching children both in UK and abroad. I have tutored numerous children with a majority of them gaining entry into the school of their choice. ( both at 11+ and 13 +)
I have a wonderful track record of success with children with Dyslexia wherein their confidence to read , write and spell has dramatically improved within 6 months of one to one lesson with me.

Tutoring Approach

I have extensive experience teaching Maths and English to children with special needs as well as mainstream children. I understand the gaps in children's knowledge by talking to the parents, reading the school report as well as setting my own short assessment. Based on the results, I curate lessons to iron out any gaps. I believe manipulatives are absolutely essential to teach abstract topics such as fractions and decimals and these are a big part of my lesson. I provide children with opportunities to overlearn and expect high standard of work.
For the more able, I set challenging work which enables children to think in different angles. For example: Show me three different ways to prove 3/5th of 50 is 30. This ensures that children are able to demonstrate a deep and secure understanding of the topic .
