I am a native French tutor with two teaching qualifications (DAEFLE and CELTA) and extensive tutoring experience. I teach from beginners to advanced, and I can prepare you for various exams such as ISEB French Common Entrance, DELF, DALF, GCSE, A Levels etc. As a French national, I studied in France and completed an MA in Modern Foreign Languages. I have obtained Chartered Linguist status from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), and having passed the Diploma in Translation (EN/FR), I also work as a professional translator, registered with the French Consulate in London.
I have been tutoring primary and secondary school students as well as adults for 6 years now, and recommendations are available on my Removed profile. As a mother of two children who took French GCSE exams, I have a thorough understanding and experience of how French is taught both in UK schools and in French bilingual schools, the curriculum content and the exam specifications, as well as how to best prepare for exams. Finally, I also worked part-time in an SEN school where I have further developed my understanding of the learning difficulties some students may experience in their educational journey, and which need to be considered when developing lessons.
I love keeping fit and practising yoga. I enjoy reading as well as watching series on Netflix, including French ones of course :-)
I have taught French to primary school pupils as well as secondary school students taking their French GCSEs for a few years. I have been teaching several adult students, including American, Polish, Italian students who moved to France or Belgium, and I also taught French to university students in the UK. I have worked for a French Saturday school for four years, thereby gaining additional classroom experience whilst teaching French to bilingual primary school pupils.
I believe in a friendly approach which focuses on the specific needs and expectations of my students. Through my training as a French and English teacher, I am equipped to prepare and deliver lessons which engage the attention of the learners and help them develop their reading, speaking and writing skills, whilst learning about French culture too. As an experienced private tutor having taught students of all ages, ranging from 5 to 65, I have a range of material which I can draw from to create quality lessons specifically tailored to my students. Also, once I have gotten to know my students, not only do I take account of their level and expectations, but I also identify their personality and preferred approach to learning in order to adjust the contents of my lessons so that they get the most enjoyment out of them and make good progress along the way.
