Rachel

I'm a British primary teacher with a First Class degree and Qualified Teacher Status living in the UK. I have experience teaching in the UK and abroad and have a TEFL qualification along with vast experience teaching English as an additional language.

I have always loved English, writing, reading and have a solid understanding of the subject. I am trained in delivering effective systematic synthetic phonics teaching programmes (SSP) in line with the 2021 UK government reforms on the subject.

Furthermore, I have a passion for teaching maths and thoroughly enjoy engaging learners and building their confidence through using a range of media.

I am a caring and supportive teacher; I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my pupils and their needs. I am fond of working closely with children both in small groups and one to one to personalise learning to their needs.

In my free time, I like to read, study the Dutch language and spend time with my child. I'm looking forward to meeting you! :)

Tutoring Experience

My name is Rachel, I'm a primary teacher with qualified teaching status (QTS) and a first class degree (BA Hons, Early Primary Education). I have taught in an Ofsted rated Outstanding primary school alongside international schools abroad. I also have a TEFL and TESOL qualifications (2016) alongside a Teaching English Abroad certificate (Avans University, 2016). I have taught in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Lithuania. Due to this, I am empathetic and understand living in a new country and how hard it can be to learn a new language!

I can support all areas of the primary curriculum and thoroughly enjoy tutoring children in both English and maths lessons. Additionally, my specialty is supporting those with English as an additional language (EAL). My extensive training and experience working with EAL children and specialism in phonics enables me to support your child accessing the English language and curriculum.

Tutoring Approach

Are you looking for a supportive, patient teacher who can help your child with their English and mathematics? Does your child need a confidence boost from an empathetic teacher? Or does your child need support accessing the curriculum due to a lack of English? I can help you! I am a pupil-focused teacher who will work hard to build a relationship with you and your child, make learning fun and supportive, and listen to what you and your child want and need.

I focus on using a range of media and activities to engage children and keep them interested throughout a lesson. I take care to get to know my pupils and their interests so I can tailor lessons to their needs.
