Rachael

Hello, my name is Rachael :) I recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with a 2.1 in French and Spanish, and I am a qualified CELTA teacher.
I offer private tuition for students sitting their National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Scottish Qualifications and also GCSE and A-level exams. I also offer exam preparation for students wishing to sit the Cambridge English exam. In addition, I am available for General English tuition, such as conversation, reading and writing practice for casual learners.

Tutoring Experience

During my CELTA course I taught students from various different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Before this, I taught as an intern at a private English academy in Seville, where I prepared Spanish students for their Cambridge English examinations and took mock examinations. I achieved A's in both my National 5 and Higher French and Spanish examinations, and was accepted into the University of Glasgow to study both as a Joint Honours degree. I have sound knowledge of the vocal and grammar required at National 5 and Higher level and have prepared many private students to sit these qualifications. I have also done voluntary work at my university, teaching English Grammar in 2019 to students from France, Spain and Italy. Both of these experiences helped me feel comfortable teaching both a large class, and helping students on a one-on-one basis.

Tutoring Approach

I will largely cater to the needs of the individual student and tailor my lessons according to their strengths and weaknesses. I will gauge the level of the student through various exercises and questions, adjusting my lesson plan accordingly. With each student, I will focus achieving a sound knowledge and use of grammar required of the level, and help with translation, comprehension, writing, listening and conversational aspects. I am also prepared to give any advice for students preparing to study French or Spanish at University level. I want to create a relaxed teaching environment for my students, and this requires communication! If you have any questions whatsoever regarding my method, please do not hesitate to ask.
