Private Online Maths and Chemistry Tutor

Hey! I'm a 4th year medical student studying at Aston University. I am always looking to make learning more fun and easier for myself, so thought I could share my ideas with you all. Exams are a stressful time and i've found that regurgitating information has become normal practice for people during revision. Up until year 9 I used to engage in this same method and always found my results never matched my level of hard work which would lead to disappointment. Using time to reflect and changing my ways I began zooming out and looking at a wider picture of each topic, this helped me get a better grasp of each subject. Once I got a deeper understanding, maths, biology and chemistry became more fun to learn. I would love to share my knowledge with you all and give my tips and tricks on how to smash your exams!

Tutoring Experience

I used to be a part of a tutoring scheme in school where I'd mentor students in younger years helping them perfect their exam technique. I also help with medicine interview preparation and read medical personal statements. I have been doing medical interview tuitions for the past 4 years and would love to help others with their applications - I understand how hard the process is! I have tutored many students and have built a big question bank to help tailor my session to whichever medical school you have applied to!

Tutoring Approach

I would like to start off with an induction session where we could get to know each other and introduce ourselves. In this session we can make a plan to stress on areas where the pupil has more weaknesses. Exam practice is key and doing as many practice papers/ questions is essential to getting the right key words to tick off all marks. I will start off by laying out a basic understanding of each topic after which I will go on to introduce quirky analogies that can help learn and remember content better. I will provide resources such as past exam papers and questions and always be available via text/ e-mail for further queries outside of lessons.

As previously mentioned, the content taught is flexible based on the students requirements. The general layout of the lesson can include us starting with the understanding of topics and concepts, moving onto more focused exam styled questions for which I will be providing resources for. I will end the session by running through the questions to ensure the student is hitting those key points to get the high-grades they need!

My lessons will be very casual and conversational, with no requirement of intensity. I believe this will help the student learn better in an environment where they feel it is easier to bring up any difficulties they have.
